Visit Sydney Bus Museum to see the fascinating ‘Art of Transport’ exhibition

As part of the Inner West Council’s Inner West Open Studios Trail, the Sydney Bus Museum will be home to an art exhibition on Sunday 11 March. The Sydney Bus Museum will also be the first stop for free tours of open artist studios, all undertaken in style, on vintage buses.

Art of Transport exhibition

Encompassing depictions of all things transport, the exhibition will feature paintings by specialist artists such as Jane Bennett and Steve Leadenham.

Sydney Bus Museum admission will give you access to the art as well as the museum’s other exhibition Sydney Buses during WWII

When: Sunday 11 March
Where: Sydney Bus Museum, 25 Derbyshire Rd, Leichhardt
Cost: Adult $15, child/concession (4-16) $10, family (2 adults / 2 children) $35
Getting there: A ride aboard a vintage double decker bus from the Queen Victoria Building is included in the admission price.
Alternatively, from Central Station, go to Stand B at Railway Square. Catch bus route 440 or M10 bus for 17 stops. Hop off at Norton Street opposite Pioneers Memorial. Then walk 350 metres directly to the Sydney Bus Museum. Total travel time is approximately 25 minutes

Free bus tours of artist studios

Artists are throwing open the doors to their private studios as part of the Inner West Open Studios Trail. 

This weekend you can ride along the trail on vintage double decker buses. Three different tours will be taking place across Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 March, all departing from Sydney Bus Museum.

“It’s a passport into a world many of us never see – a creative world of messy paint splatters, wood shavings, half-finished canvases. It’s throwing back the mysterious curtain so everyone can see the processes and the magic of creation.” – Amanda Buckland, Living Arts Manager, Inner West Council.

The Darling Street Express
Tour by vintage bus of artist studios in Balmain and Rozelle. Led by Cultural Producer Tara Morelas, you are sure to get some great insights into studios and galleries in the area. Some walking required (3 minutes at most between spaces).

Tour by vintage bus of selected studios in Leichhardt and Annandale.

Be guided by artist, performer and academic George Catsi, visiting thriving creative businesses and studios, and to wax lyrical with stories about Parramatta Road itself.
